Lets compare North America's northermost city with metro population of over 1,000,000 with the largest city in Europe - Moscow.
Which climate do you like more, if weather was the only factor, would you live in Edmonton or Moscow?
It's a tough choice, but I'd go with Edmonton. Despite the chinook winds and hence higher record highs in winter, it averages colder and more variable than Moscow. It also has a lower record low. Summer nights in Edmonton are cooler than Moscow, as are the summer record highs. It has less moisture in winter than Moscow does, and I guess it has less snow than Moscow. Edmonton is also sunnier. But in the end Edmonton wins out, despite some advantages that Moscow offers.
