Two continental climates... which do you choose?

I think I'll go with Kamloops for being drier year round...

Do you know the sunshine hours for Stavropol? It's not listed on wiki or pogodaiklimat.ru

About the same to me. So similar I don't see why they're part of a climate battle.

Those wiki stats are from Kamloops airport, there is another weather station downtown,
with slightly warmer temps (mainly the lows).

If I say nice things about Kamloops, do I get named in their local newspaper? Maybe an all-expenses paid trip over there - after all, Canadians are nice, right? If not, I'm voting Stavropol for having more rainfall. BC must be a really great place for geography / microclimate lovers though, given how dry Kamloops is and how wet Tofino is being in the same province (ignoring the fact that they're probably nowhere near each other...).

Kamloops is 220 miles from Vancouver, 395 from Tofino, by car. This rather wet place:

(sunshine hours look too low, I'm guessing mountains block low angle sun)

is 135 miles by road and maybe 90 or less air miles from this dry place.

(Not the weather station for the exact location but close)

That first place looks really nice. Rain amounts might be high, but number of rain days not that bad. Even at 1506 sun hours it's still sunnier than where I live. And it's where Rambo was filmed!

I'd never have guessed even the rain-shadow areas of BC look as dry as that second picture even with those rainfall totals - I would have thought that was California or southern Spain or something.
