Buenavista del Norte wins due to warmer summer lows and there are some months with considerable rainfall according to this data...but the dry season is pretty long. SJB's summer precip totals look better as there is some rain but it still is pretty dry.
Whilst temperatures are slighlty cooler than at Buenavista, I prefer the more evenly spread rainfall distribution and it's sunshine hours seem sufficient for me.
Both are D or F grade climates for me, but Bautista is a step cooler, so I'll choose that one .
I can absoutely understand why anyone would give them a D. Those summers are far too cold
