We get more days of lying snow here than days of thunder heard. And that is exactly that, thunder heard, not overhead thunder. Thunder in the distance is no good.

Summer is by far the most boring season here in terms of interesting weather, mostly it's just dry and hot. Winter and early spring have much more to offer in terms of changeable weather.

Winters around the freezing mark that have plenty of precipitation have the possibility of seeing all weather, and tend to be more interesting than warm winters or winters with no risk of melt. I'm thinking winters of places that straddle the C and D climates of the Koppen system.

Most boring: spring. It's always sunny and quiet with snow slowly melting day by day. I call it the California of the year here. Snowstorms in April can sometimes add a little variety.

Most interesting: the transition between fall and winter. It's always exciting to see rain turn into sleet or snow. Sometimes the earth freezes over days before any snow, sometimes a meter of snow falls out of nowhere. Waking up to a white world one morning is the best experience ever with regard to weather.

I love that too. Waking up to unexpected snow. Always fun.

Boring - spring when westerlies prevail with very little if any changeable weather and as for the most interesting season, it would have to be autumn with prolonged periods of cloudy, thundery and rainy days.

As a Sydneysider too, I got quite the opposite opinion of yours.

Autumn is boring for the reasons you have. Spring is interesting because we get a lot of sunny days.

Winter is turning out to be a boring waste of time so far. I preferred summer.

The most boring is late autumn/early winter (Nov/Dec) due to lack of sunshine, thunderstorms, or any kind of interesting weather.

The most interesting is late spring and summer (May-Aug) due to sunshine, interesting cloud formations, occasionally strong thunderstorms with strong wind and heavy rain, heat, and big temperature swings.

Autumn is pretty boring in my mind. Pretty little temperature variation, and a bunch of rain and cloud. Spring is probably the most variable and interesting with anything from snow to warm snaps possible but we don't get thunderstorms.
