Barcelona for me too! Visited in Feb once and it was unpleasantly chilly, so New York would be a no-no.

I've never been to Barcelona but spent a lot of time in New York in all seasons. Because it has an interesting climate with some snowfall and freezes to kill off bugs and is the most northernmost US subtropical climate along with some areas in Colorado such as Boulder while still having four seasons unlike Barcelona which is monotonously cool to warm which would leave me longing for real cold or heat I choose New York. However, Barcelona has one of the nicest of the worldwide climates where palm trees can grow and much nicer than most US climates where palm trees can easily grow.

Yes palm trees can't survive in New York which is a big minus. Barcelona is much better as I prefer csa climates compared to continental NYC

Going with New York City, because the summer is not as long lasting as Barcelona. Yes, July is hot, but by the middle of august it usually starts cooling down at night and by September the weather is ideal. Barcelona hits 100 F far more often than New York City does.
An average low of 68 in September is just UGH . NYC is much more comfortable with lows in the 50’s by then, and only has such hot lows for a day or 2.
