there is a lot of comments there trying to make london look like some hot place during the summer, but lets be real here, Toronto, and all of southern Ontario has much hotter and longer summers than London.

I agree with you. I think some people's perspectives have been skewed by the atypically warm summers of the mid '90s and early to mid-2000s. The last 5 summers are much closer to the long-term norm: often cool and cloudy, with some drier and hotter spells.

Not really, the average from 1995 to 2006 isn't that much warmer than the long term average. 21.3C in June, 23.8C in July and 24.0C in August.

I was referring to specific summers within that period, particularly the hot (for the UK) months of August 1995 (27/15.6), August 2003 (26.5/15.4) and July 2006 (28.2/15.9) and the associated heatwaves which resulted in 35C + temperatures, versus the 1981-2010 long-term normals of 21.0/11.7 for June, 23.5/13.9 for July and 23.2/13.7 for August. 10-year averages are not particularly memorable for most people, but on the other hand, perceptions are unduly influenced by such things heatwaves (and cold spells in winter), especially if these events are fairly recent (which they are).

The above-mentioned months would be very ordinary for Toronto's summers, so there's no question which city has hotter summers. Whether or not people prefer that is another matter.
