I have to say, this scene doesn't look particularly tropical. Rather like a grey winter day here. I guess stratus cloud has that effect

Haha. Look at this webcam. "Sunny Isles Beach". Stratus my arse. Those are CB clouds there's thunder+lightning going on there right now. Watched it ysterday to during the storm it picks up lightning and thunder really well.

I was referring to the cam a couple of posts back. It just looks like regular winter stratus to me.

Looking at the radar for that area though the sky is boiling with convection and embedded CB's all around. Have you looked at the sunny isles webcam? Ther've been some good cracks of thunder on it in the last few minutes. And the "main storm" hasn't even got there yet.

With the global climate change we're seeing, the warm air that we usually have in the South is up north, and the Artic air has to go somewhere else, I guess.

North Texas will see the coldest temp ever for the month of May in the morning, right now it's 48F; 24 hours ago it was 80F.

I was referring to the previous cam. It looked like it could be the UK in winter.

I had a brief look at the Sunny Isles cam, but at 10 cents a MB, I wasn't hanging around (Take note all you multiple 1.5 MB pic posters)
