I watched some autumn forecasts and they were all after a warm autumn but so far it isn't very warm.

I don't care if it's gonna be warm as long as the winter is freezing cold by November.

Good, I'm back in December.

I have a gut feeling this winter could be very mild.

You see I think that as well. Winters in NI are borderline which means if it is a cold winter we get a proper winter i.e snows a good lot of the time but in a mild winter, winter does not exsist.

I think I will have to fly off to Iceland as I can't be bothered with mild weather.
I mean who could be arsed with 9c in January.

I'm used to colder winters now, since December 2008. If we get a proper mild winter like 2007 or 2008, I'll have a nervous breakdown.

All of the autumn forecasts I see forecast September, October, and November, not August. As for a mild winter, I wouldn't read too much into the raw temperatures in autumn. Warm autumns have led into cold winters, and cold autumns have led into warm winters, and vice versa. I would read a lot into the October AO/NAO and the Siberian snow cover, but that's different from saying "warm autumn=warm winter".

Well my gut feeling is definitely mild. We have not had a summer like this here in ages. The nights are very warm and it is just not common at all.

Conflict among the seasonal models.....

Check out latest CVS2 forecast for winter.... Europe might get pounded, US, might be very mild aside for the eastern seaboard which might be prone to more Atlantic storms. Lucky them

Have you ever put a 1000 piece puzzle together and you come to a point where you're just starring at it waiting to see what other pieces you can find that will come together?

That's how it's been for past couple weeks for me.

And whalah... I see a piece of the puzzle that will "help" cold and snow chances in the East.

Gabriella has reformed and the Track of Gabriella and potentially Humberto could enhance our Negative NAO chances.

Latent heat from the tropical atmosphere will get put into the northern Latitudes near Greenland.
