Here in the NYC area it is feels at least 100 degrees F (with 94 degrees without the humidity factor). This is the 3rd heatwave in the area this summer and I believe the 4th day of the heatwave here. How are the temperatures where you are? Are other parts of the northern hemisphere also experiencing such a hot summer?

The high yesterday was 35°C / 95°F, the high today was 34°C / 93°F, tonight's low is forecast to be 26°C / 79°F, and the high tomorrow is supposed to be 34°C / 93°F again. All of this with oppressive humidity. Toronto's summer averages may not be high by American standards, but the heatwaves they get would surely make anyone from Florida feel like they're right back home.
Yesterday it reached 100 degrees F and with the humidity factor it was 105 degrees F. Wednesday night it didn't go below 81 degrees F which broke the previous record of 80 degrees F. Today will be the 6th day of this heatwave which is predicted to last until tomorrow night. I heard something about part of an outer lane on the Long Island Expressway buckling because of the heat!
Well, one week or month of hot weather doesn't make it a hot summer, nor does one week or month of cold weather make it a cold winter. Although most of the hemisphere is not experiencing a hotter than usual summer overall like you are, this does seem to be a hot week across the hemisphere. Britain was in a heat wave last time I checked, as well as a few other regions.
As I mentioned early, there's a good chance we'll break a record for hottest month ever. For hottest monthly min (nighttime low average), I think we definitely will.

There was so much written about how hot previous summers were, while this one has gotten relatively little attention. The previous ones were a bit overhyped IMO, though on the hot side. Some here like claim there's media bias, perhaps the media has gotten tired of pointing out hot summers.
The official Central Park site in Manhattan fell to just 81° Thursday morning (July 18th) a bit short of the all-time warmest low temperature of 83° set on August 2, 2006 and also on July 6, 1999. At La Guardia Airport in Queens the minimum was 83°, shy of their all-time record of 87° set on August 3, 2006. JFK Airport reached 100° on Thursday one of its warmest temperatures on record (after an overnight low of 77°) and hotter than Central Park (98°) and tied with La Guardia which is unusual since JFK Airport rests on the ocean shoreline which normally has a cooling influence for the site.
