That is awesome! Metacomet ridge! Yes that's it. You know your stuff.
I knew I climbed but didn't think it was over 700 feet.
"Heading west from the parking lot, the trail starts off with a bang – a very steep climb up Bluff Head. The main trail climbs almost straight up to the 720’ crest"
"The new blue blazed trail forms part of the New England Trail, along with the Mattabesett, Metacomet and Monadnock trails from near Long Island Sound up to the Massachusetts / New Hampshire border. This hike is just a little piece of that."
Awesome pics as usual. Cool to think that's the same Cliff/Ridge continued from where I was on down here. We need some snowcap hill pics in our area soon.

What river is that in this pic you posted?
Connecticut River. Longest (and maybe widest) river in New England. Runs all the way from the Canadian border to New Haven.
Went on another little hike this morning. In process of uploading pics. Here's one of them. More pics of the trail in the Hiking Thread.
River is called Mianus River. In SouthWest Connecticut. A 20 mile long river that runs through adjacent County in NY through CT and dumps into the Long Island Sound.
Calmer and lower than usual. Driest month on record. Only 1/2" of rain in over 5 weeks now.
