October in Colorado is beautiful. Perfect jeans and sweatshirt kind of weather. Can sleep with the windows open comfortably and still feel like you could snuggle in your bed when you wake up in the morning because there is a little bit of a bite in the air.
November - February are the best months here as the rainfall is the highest and most reliable in these months. Thunderstorms are also pretty much guaranteed to occur in these months. Temperatures can be hot but usually not excessively, just the way I like it in summer.
If I had to pick one month then it would be December. Average rainfall is close to 100mm (I would prefer more but it's the highest it gets here) and it probably has the highest thunderstorm frequency as well. I've rarely been let down by December.
I loved for October. Both warm and cool enough to really enjoy the outdoors - great walking and hiking weather. I love the crisp days and blue skies that contrast beautifully with the golden and crimson foliage.
Pinning it down to a single month, I would vote for September.
Our first spring month but it has an excellent combination of good sunshine hours and warm days (~25C or 77F maximums) without the heat, humidity and rain of the summer months.
December and January. Nothing like the darkest days of winter with frequent blizzards.
For comfortable weather, September. Cool days, chilly nights, beautiful yellow sunshine and gorgeous cloudscapes. My birthday also happens to be in September, icing on the cake.
