Impressively low high temperatures early next week, coldest in many years.
Wind chills in Wisconsin will be as cold as -60F using the NEW wind chill formula. With the old formula it would be -70 to -80F.
Madison, WI will likely record the first -20F or lower temperature in over 13 years as the last time a -20F low was recorded was 2000. Quite a long period of time considering the number of -20F or lower temperatures recorded in the 1980s and 90s.
Heres how BDR's extremes & normals look throughout the yr. As you can see single digits above/below 0 are the extremes. Tonight forecasted to get to 0. Currently at 9°F
I don't know what all the fuss is about because we are experiencing warm, sunny, dry weather weather out west. It didn't even get close to freezing here last night, and I was outside in my t-shirt today... oh, that's right, it's because the cold is hitting the populated areas. When we have equivalent weather it doesn't' make the news because we don't have the population base. Funny how that works.
Your map gives the impression the Northeast will escape the Arctic outbreak. After an interlude of relatively mild weather, some places will see the coldest highs in a while, though not as extreme as in the Midwest. Some forecast highs for Tuesday:
Ithaca, NY: 2F
Amherst, MA: 12F
New York, NY: 11F
Burlington, VT: 11F
The NYC high may be the most exceptional one relative to previous recorded weather.
this is interesting and exciting
Also a high of 5c in Orlando Florida will be a shock for residents lol
