Walked onto deck and sounded like thunder. It was cracking from the cold. Of course my "Labrador" wanted to just stand there and sniff the arctic winds as if she was with her ancestors in Canada. lol Feels good but it's biting out there. Stay safe!

Temp: 6.5°F
Dewpoint -12°F
Wind Chill -9.3°F
Wind Gusts to 20mph still

6am Wind Chills. 14 Below Danbury. 28 Below in Binghamton. 18 Below in Atlantic City. 36 Below in State College.

Lots of stats and records to look at.

North Little Rock's high of 20 degrees yesterday was the coldest since January 7, 1988 and the 4th coldest on record for January

6° ties the record low from 1896 in NYC

Baltimore was 3 degrees at 6 am, shattering record of 8 from 1988

Here's Bluefield West Virginia temp graph

Impressively low high temperatures early next week, coldest in many years.

Wind chills in Wisconsin will be as cold as -60F using the NEW wind chill formula. With the old formula it would be -70 to -80F.

Madison, WI will likely record the first -20F or lower temperature in over 13 years as the last time a -20F low was recorded was 2000. Quite a long period of time considering the number of -20F or lower temperatures recorded in the 1980s and 90s.

Makes you wish Global Warming was indeed, rampant.....sigh......don't know about you but, I'm outside everyday spraying whatever aerosol cans I can trying to warm things up a bit.....I know it's lame but, I'm only one man, there is only so much I can do!

Memphis officially got down to 8 degrees and 5 here! Even though it was a little warmer, yesterday morning felt worse because of the wind.

The "Polar Vortex" is not new, it ALWAYS is occurring in polar regions of earth. What is it & what is it not?

"***Please share this information to become more educated on what exactly the polar vortex is and is not***

You may have heard about a "polar vortex" in the news with regards to the cold air currently affecting the United States and soon to hit the Tri-State area. This is NOT a new atmospheric phenomena as a polar vortex ALWAYS exists at the polar regions of earth, but a piece of the main vortex has broken off and is being sent southward by the jet stream. What exactly is the polar vortex, what is it not? Check out this graphic for more information"
