This Southerly outbreak is absolutely savage. The shrieking wind kept me awake all night averaging around 50 kph! Currently 11 C and expected to stay in the 10-12 C for the next 12 hrs. Gusts up to 130 kph and 30+ mm of rain expected.

Another chilly morning, with 1C this morning and -3C ground temperature, there was ice on windscreens, and light ground frost in some areas, but the day warmed up to 22C, although with a very low dewpoint (3c) The first 4 nights of Autumn have had minimums of 3C/3C/12C/1C.

A dusting of new snow on some of the higher peaks, but far from the first snow this year.

Thanks.

Yep, Royal Gala by the looks of it. This area has a perfect climate for growing apples.

Humid and mostly cloudy today. There was a tiny bit of rain and a high of 25C.

I can feel it starting to cool down a little at night though.

The papers are calling it a "once in a century" storm. That might be slightly hyperbolic, but it's definitely been pretty heavy with the rain and wind these past couple of days. 80+ mm of rain and sustained winds averaging over 40 kph made this one of the biggest storms in local history.

1975 was supposedly quite bad, but long before my time.

I wish I could've been on a jetski pulling a case of beer on a body board. That would've been the ultimate.

That explains why it was a warm day here today. A foehn Southwesterly, with temps in the mid 20s C and plenty of static.

The weather seems to be returning to typical early autumn weather, which is good news.
