sort of begs the Q , why has that record stood so long ?

Summer months vary here much less than they do in winter, so it is hard for June to get much above its avg temps.

Why is the summer data on wikipedia for istanbul so wrong? I checked old averages, other source averages, and the weather forecast itself and its far too cool.

Yeah, it's misleading, makes the place look like Paris.

June highs have been equal to or warmer than an average July in the following years.

1950: 23.5c
1957: 23.6c
1970: 23.6c
1976: 25.5c
2006: 23.7c
2010: 23.5c

Ignoring the lows Paris and Nice aren't that dissimilar. Taking them into account, they're worlds apart.

So Greece finally will face a proper heat wave! How long it took to have it again? In fact i was close to label the heat of Greece as another 'myth'.
