I analog I found to compare to this Wednesday's setup was September 16, 2000.
See the similar Pattern? Cutoff low in PacNW. Ridge peak over Montana into Alberta/Saskatchewan and the trough in East with the Upper Level Low.
Notice it's a "Fall" month. You don't get this setup in the summer. (broken record alert)
On that day September 16, 2000 NYC failed to pass the 60s during the day which was well below normal. So most likely that means failing to pass the 70s in August mid week this week.
Classic summer sky at noon. Dew point is 72F. Hope to get the sun coming out and juice the atmosphere enough to put down some more cloud-to-ground lightning this evening.
EDIT: Just now it has commenced to raining again! But a very brief shower, in fact I can see sunlight on the other side. I love days like this.

The last 30 days have surely been one of the hottest ever recorded. Avg hi has been 27.9C/82.2F and low 16.7C/62F, yielding a mean temp of 22.3C/72.1F. This 30 day period includes also 2 days when the highs were around 21C/70F.
Mid Afternoon. 84/29C degrees here. 79F/36C in Atlanta.
It's warmed up to 81, with a fierce dewpoint of 73, think that's the highest of the summer. Feels like Ft Lauderdale with all the rain we've been having - but at least we've been getting some decent storms - finally!

Close. 3rd Highest.
July 28th had the highest so far at 75°F July 14th second highest at 74°
Since June 1st Atlanta's dewpoint only 23 times stayed below 70°F. Nuts. That means 48 days had a max dewpoint of 70°F or higher.
Might of only been an hour or 2 a couple days but still.
