Nice call and good idea. I guess these polls/threads would be also interesting if we did a tally.

Here are the guesses. Winner is Patricius Maximus:

Thread started 05-15-2014, 06:53 AM.

5/15: Mac15: I don't think it is far away.

5/15: Cambium: My opinion is we go into June this year before NYC hits 90

5/15: ChicagoGeorge: ^^ I think so too.

5/15: irlinit: It won't happen

5/15: Infamous92: ^^ Lol, impossible. I'm gonna say June.

5/16: wawa1992: I'm going to guess... June 8th.

5/19:Patricius Maximus: Central Park won't hit 90F until sometime in July

6/8: wawa1992: I'm going to guess around June 17-23.

6/22: wawa1992: At this rate, I could see August as first 90 F day.

6/26: wawa1992: I'm going to predict August 7th.

6/28: alex985: I say July 10th is the first 90 F day

Wait a second. It doesn't say when will Central Park hit 90 degrees, but when will NYC hit 90. JFK hit 91F on June 18th. I though June, and I was right.

If it said "New York City" then I would agree and would need to be clarified but we weather nuts use call letters and there's only 1 "NYC" station and that's what I went by with my guess.

Next nyc thread will have to be clearer I guess.

^^

I see, Central Park station's code is actually called NYC. I thought when Adi said NYC, he was referring to the city in general.

It's different here

Yup, I know, it's confusing to some. Some don't know there's actually 5 Boroughs that make up NYC.

Bronx
Staten Island
Brooklyn
Queens (where LGA and JFK are)
Manhattan (where NYC central park is)

So technically New York City can mean The Bronx too

Well...here we are July 30th. NYC with only 3 days that hit 90°F or warmer.

NWS NY posted a question...

What are the percentages that NYC sees a heatwave in August? On average..not in this pattern this year.
