Eh...typical topography issues. I live near Dulles Airport and the only extra warmth advantage that it seems to have over the rest of the metro area is during spring, when breezes off the Chesapeake can affect areas from DC eastward. During the worst summer heat waves it rarely outperforms DCA.

At this rate, I could see August as first 90 F day.

Honestly, I hope it goes the whole summer without seeing 90 - then hits it like once in October or November. November 13th has the same average high as April 7th, and it hit 90 on April 7, 2010. So November could hit 90.

Our record high is 84 F. Though, its rare to cross 70 F here in November.

NYC has never gone over 84° in November. While I never say "can't" with weather... November has never seen 90 there so forget that.. They have never even seen 85°F.

In fact, in October NYC only goes above 80°F a couple times on average per yr. 7 of last 13 yrs have not gotten into the 80s in October.

And correction on the average max... Only the 1st week in November has the same average high as April 7th.

Well April 7th hitting 90 shocked literally everybody. Relative to the averages, it's the same as November hitting 90. The records only go back to 1869. November has hit 90 in an "AD" year before, it just wasn't recorded. I have no clue of the year or the date. I'm sure January, February, March, and December have also each hit 90 since the end of the last ice age.

December 22, 2013 hit 70 F, relative to an average of 42 F. That's like November 1st hitting 86 F.

I don't give November's 84 F record much longer. It may not be broken by 6 F, but I think we'll see 85-89 in the next decade or two, and 90 is a definite possibility during my lifetime.

Once Halloween passes by the winds from up north start howling and cooler air gets a grip. Its kind of hard to see highs surpassing 75 F after Halloween because of shorter days. In April sunlight hours are longer so higher deviations are possible.

Summer solstice just passed, so day length will start decreasing from now on. Heat should get a grip on CNJ next week.
