So, as summer approaches when do you think NYC will see its first 90 F day in 2014. I have a feeling that it will be only in Early July this year. If the ocean influence holds on all summer long, perhaps it may never happen .

You really want that 90 degree humidity to come on? Why do you hope for this? It means the city is a heat sink and it's uncomfortable to be out of air conditioning. I would be grateful the ocean currents are keeping the city air conditioned for once in a blue moon.

There have been years of 90-degree NYC tempetature streaks for 6 weeks straight. It is weather that causes a lot of heat stroke fatalities as not everyone has working A/C in the city. Those for many are more hellish than the winters.

NYC max so far is 85.

Meanwhile Northern CT (BDL) hit 90. I want to request an inspection of that weather station there as they were the only ones north of Virginia to hit 90 that day. It's what I call "Local Warming". LOL

Here's max temp for the year so far.

NYC/Central Park's 90 degree days by year.... In 1902 only 1 day at or above 90, and in 1889, and 2004 only 2 days..... In 1996 only 3 days... On the flip side there were 37 days in 2010.

NYC mean date to hit 90F is May 30th.

Earliest is April 7, 2010
Latest is July 14, 1985

My opinion is we go into June this year before NYC hits 90.

^^

I think so too.

Chicago didn't "officially" hit 90 yet with ORD reaching 89F last week, but MDW hit 93 that day. Even Northerly Island on the lake front hit 91 degrees... For some reason, ORD always has one of the cooler temps compared with other stations

You don't want 90 degrees in New York it's almost never, if ever at all, with a low dew point...in summer.

I would take 90 degrees with a dewpoint of 50 and and overnight low of 58

That's a nice beachy warm summer day

The 90 degrees you are asking for is with haze and dew point in the mid-70s, dripping sweat and extremely muggy and advisories to stay inside when possible, heat index 110
