Happy news - a judge in Ft Lauderdale has issued a stay against their inhumane law against feeding the homeless in public (presumably as to not expose the tourists to a bit of unpleasentness). They were fixing to put a 90-year old man in jail over this atrocious law.
In an age full of injustice toward the most needy among us, it's nice to see a bit of sanity returning.
I really have a bad view of religion and maybe it is better that I just stay quiet to not offend people, although of course I respect everyone has the right to follow and practice a religion if they wish to, I just cannot understand it myself.
I used to feel the same way. However, I'm a bit more respectful of religious people nowadays. I respect the traditions and I think they're important. I also think religion can be a great motivator in everyday life. It can give you something to live for, really. Christianity is not really my cup of tea, though. Sometimes I wish I were religious (that is, that I could convince myself to be) but a pagan. I simply don't believe in any of that stuff, though. :/
By the way, today happens to be exactly ten years from the day (December 4, 2004) that I realized I no longer believed in God. I was pretty devoted to Christianity before then, but I was also really young. Life hasn't been quite the same, to say the least, in the last 10 years compared to before that.

True. But religion makes it easier. That's been my experience at least. Anyway, in many ways I find life considerably more meaningful now than I did in years past. Unfortunately, I tended toward nihilism at times in the past. I never want to return to that way of thinking.
