3rd thunderstorm here in a week. Was a forming one as fast as it hit the mainland, and we experienced it in its early stages. And was already NE from us to start with. Poor lightning action, but got least a scent of afternoon thunder, wind gusts and a shower. For example the Artukainen weather station which is just like 3 miles or so from here didn't pick up any precipitation, so very localised.
There was just a huge one last week here in the CNY area of NY state. Probably the biggest I've seen for the past 5 years. Lots of trees fell, lots of homes lost power, tons of stores(Kmart, mall, best buy etc) all closed due to power outage.
Normally thunder storms come in this patter for CNY: May, 1 very strong storm. June, 1-2 thunder storms. July 1-2 during a good summer, 3-4 during a bad one. August maybe 1-2 thunderstorms. First 2 weeks of September is pretty much the last time a thunderstorm hits before spring.
I enjoyed sitting and watching thunder storms but ever since my basement started to flood when rain poured, I didn't like it anymore lol.
"According to Vaisala, there have been 1,006,912 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in the last 4 days, in the general area of the Continental U.S. Only the Pacific NW has been immune, but not southern California, where one person was killed by lightning at Venice Beach"

If they went 5 days instead of 4, the PNW would not be immune. Washington, Idaho and BC (not a part of the US but in that area) had some real strong storms Wednesday.
