Portland is only warmer during the day, same temps I night. I very much dislike the summer night temps in both places.

IMO, no. Portland is obviously much wetter than here during winter, but it's not like winter here is nice so it makes no difference to me. I'd love to have a Portland summer. It'd then be possible to organise garden parties or BBQs a week in advance without having to worry about the weather being rubbish.

I tried! I wanted to choose possibly the sunniest place in England, but it still can't beat a city in the PNW. Next time, I should probably try Alaska?
