Been hotter and hazier lately. Yesterday evening:

This morning:

Local summit views this morning. One of those times I would have been better off with my "real" camera rather than a cell phone camera.

Lol, yeah right. 1000 feet was the elevation gain. The highest point was the trailhead at 2200'. Mount Magazine is at 2700'. Now I'm near sea level in Baton Rouge, LA...goodbye to the mountains and scenic views.

Today was a long driving day...hardly any sightseeing

Breakfast at the hotel

The Fordyce Bathhouse in Hot Springs...a bit creepy

Therapeutic baths or torture devices?

Gymnasium sans treadmills

Water temp is 143 F...I didn't fancy a dip when the air temp was 92 F.

View from the 200 ft high Hot Springs Mountain Tower

Amusement park in the background

Inside the tower

Ruston, Louisiana

Those mountains looked bigger than I expected for the Ozark region; thought they were the Appalachians. Looks a bit like Mt. Greylock though not quite as hilly. Surprised the flow of Hemmed-in-Hollow Falls is so low, didn't the area get lots of rain? Like the bowl around the waterfall. What's the biggest hike you've done in the western US?

That's the town where I went to college! Which roads did you take to get from Ruston to Baton Rouge?

Enjoyed the pictures. I've been through the Ozarks on the way to Branson, MO a few years ago, but I've never been to Hot Springs or Mount Magazine. I'm hoping to go up to the Ozarks again soon.

Pictures of the Red River in Alexandria yesterday. It is currently at 35.5 feet (flood stage is 32.0 feet). Fortunately the predicted crest was lowered from 38.0 feet to 36.5 feet. Still, flooding is occurring in areas that are not protected by the levees.

Could be a tricky pic to post in a "guess the state" game. I assume Arkansas would be far from the top answer. Strange layout with midrises in the middle of the forest. Neat to see photos of that region, it's never been showcased on these threads iirc.

Video from the end of a storm. Thunder from a strike about half a kilometer away in the vid:

I need a proper sound recording device.
