Temperature rose from 39°F to 58°F in 15 minutes at around 1 am last night. Impressive warm front, with accompanied thunder and lightning. Chicopee: 39°F at 11 pm winds variable at 3 mph, 62°F at midnight with 30 mph south winds gusting to 39 mph) Would be interesting to see the vertical profile as the storm rolled in (kinda, it was raining steadily before)

Weirder is that Whitefield, New Hampshire didn't have the sudden jump; it was warmer than here for most of the day and it had a gradual rise in the evening. Cold air daming here again? Or just different airflow? Whitefield reached 62°F late this morning, forecast high there tomorrow is 19°F. Wee....

Probably CAD that got stuck in the valley. Took forever for BDL to warm up too. The profile is impressive given how saturated it was all the way up the column

So we go from Severe storms to now this... Snow.

Heads up for snow squalls and snow showers later. Still in the 40s so we'll see.

Guess he'll find 1997 was one time though not sure how widespread that was.

And Speaking of 1997

Hartford max temp this month is the warmest since...1997. #ElNino.

El Niño then was late 1997, 1998; so that Feb 1997 wasn't affected

Next winter. What do you guys think of next winter? With a la nina at play, and as long as teleconnections are favorable, we can end up finally with a real mild winter. Doubt it though, knowing our luck the NAO will decide to flip really negative on us next year when we are finally in a scenario that produces epic winter warmth... all winter long.

Yuk, Toronto according to the latest Euro model run is forecast to go below 0F, and get 15" of snow.

Same time frame for us they have upper 40'sF with lows in the 30'sF and rain. Not pleasant for March, but far better than Toronto.

Had quite an intense thunderstorm last night with very heavy rain and gusty winds. Fortunately the power didn't go out.
