I don't, as I'm scraping to get by, and my parents doesn't pay for my holidays. But still, I have been to 19 countries in my lifetime.
Ok But I find that difficult to comprehend, I think that people who say that they can't afford to go on holidays don't want to be bothered.
They can go if they really wanted to, for example, they could go to Spain for £500 for a week. If they cannot find the money, then there are alternatives methods of getting it, like I myself don't really have any money (well a couple hundred pounds a month, so not lots) so I do surveys and make about £100+ a month.
So yeah, I find it difficult to believe that people can't afford a cheap holiday.
Most people in Russia are brainwashed and as 95% of the populace doesn't speak any Western languages and 90% have never been abroad, they pretty much swallow it all. Like they did in the Czarist era, during the USSR and now. They also have a saying which translates like "stay low like the grass", meaning that don't express your opinions or ambitions, because when you're low as the grass you will be ignored by the evil machine.
I met about 10 Russian students in Germany and they all spoke better English than most German students.
Really? Gosh, I didn't realise you were born in Eastern Europe!!
I'm not fat, but I am naturally stocky. I am--and always have been--rather physically strong compared to most other people of the same height/weight, and I don't really lift much or anything. It's an Eastern European physical characteristic; that's where I get it from. Eastern Europeans do very well in competitions like the World's Strongest Man.

well he did say 95% of the population not 100%. I think Ariete's exaggerating but Russian students studying abroad are going to be atypical in their foreign language knowledge.

Also, Russian is obviously a Slavic/Indo-European language (unlike Finnish, fwiw). I'm not sure what a "Western" language is supposed to be, but Russia is European, no doubt.
He wasn't. He's as American as they get - hence his wacko political views and perverse admiration of Donald Trump.
I've never met anyone with quite the combination of views as snj90. I'm sure snj90 will reply, "they're afraid to speak about their views publicly" but I have a vague idea of what of the views of people I know well.

I'm not sure what specific views you're referring to, so I'm not sure what I'd even be responding to. Support for Donald Trump? He's leading in the polls, last I checked, at least among Republicans.
