North of NYC here. I average (1981-2014) 31 days ≥ 30°C while NYC Central Park averages (1981-2014) 38 days ≥ 30°C. The bigger difference is in low temperature, not high temperature (if you remember, my temperature reports nearly matched yours when you were in NYC). And NYC tends to be more humid, especially when hot. Unlike winter, summer afternoon temperatures aren't that variable here; that's why the number of days reaching 90°F in NYC (32.2°C) is half of the number reaching 86°F (30.0°C)
Not right now, for some reason. NYC: 81°F/ dewpoint 63°F. Here: 79°F / dewpoint 71°F.

The UK only went over to using kilos & grams instead of pounds & ounces within the last 20 years, though this was forced upon the UK by the EU... So I'm sure if something similar was forced upon the US people would just have to change & accept it...
I wouldn't bet heavily on that. I can guesstimate pretty well using inches, feet, weight but throw that metric crap in there and I couldn't tell you the difference between a matchstick and a 2x4.

Actually the article is more about "metric", but I wanted to stay on the weather topic less the thread be moved ha ha. .
I'm late to this dance, and not going to read umteen pages, but my answer is that Americans are too lazy to learn the metric system. (Yes, I have a chemistry and pharmacy background with a college degree and a professional license, and yes I learned the metric system---But, I am also too lazy to start figuring out the conversion factors in my daily life)
why doesn't the world use Kelvin? it is ACTUAL temperature.
