I remember that cold snap well. Was one of the greatest stretches of weather I've experienced here . That's another cold snap that was forecast well in advance, and I'm still shocked as to how people were "surprised" by it.

A simple Google search would eradicate the problem of having your trip "ruined", if people don't want cold, they can always schedule their trip for April, where the chances of getting a cold snap are a lot less likely.
People often plan trip weeks in advance before a forecast is available. If you want an escape or break from the cold, winter is the best time to go.

That's true, but people should be aware that in January, anything can happen. We're not Aruba where you can bank on it being warm....

Planning a trip months in advance depending on the weather being nice is kind of dumb anyways.

Not sure what the threshold would be since I don't swim or get in the ocean.

Independent Florida would have create their own chains. And Florida-based companies would perhaps not be interested in the North Dakota market for example.
Fair enough, I read that online.

I would think for most people, a water temp of 70+ and an air temp of 80+ is good enough. I'm not sure, I'm guessing after a cold winter in Chicago your threshold would be lower....

I haven't experienced ocean conditions much warmer, but low 70s water temperatures while tolerable has a definite chill to it. High 70s would be ideal, though I assume that's not possible in the winter in Florida.

High 70s is highly unlikely......usually the water temp is that or warmer from about late April/early May until about early-mid November....

I notice the wet seasons correlates pretty closely to 80+ water temperatures (which is mid-May through mid-October on average, average start/end dates for the wet season is May 21 and October 17. )

An ideal normal outside temp that allows for anything is around the 25C/77F mark. Not too cool even with a sea breeze, and not too hot to get you exhausted. My dream climate have an average high of 80F in July and August, having both cooler and hotter days.

Sea temps should definitely be above 70F.

My ideal climate has average highs of 70 F, 75 F, and 72 F for JJA, respectively and average lows of 47 F, 52 F and 49 F. Nice and warm during the day and cool at night. Perfect summer weather. There's occasional 90+ days and 65-70+ lows for variety's sake.

JJA averages for mine

77, 81, 80 highs
58, 63, 63 lows

I think it's about perfect. A cooler than normal month is not too cool, and a hotter than normal not a furnace. The record is 108, so it might occationally get really hot. Likewise the record low is -14, but these are very rare events.
