That's the reason. 18-hour days, 375 hours of sun in July and windless conditions created very high sea temps. In the Estonian part of the Gulf of Riga they peaked at an amazing 82F SST's.

The ocean is often too cold for my liking in the summer. 80 and above would be a good ocean temperature but we never see that. Upper 70s if we're very lucky. Mid 70s as a seasonal maximum is more realistic.

Sounds like April/October in mine. Shoulder seasons should be comfortable, not summer. Btw didn't you say before that you wanted August to be cooler than June?

Strikingly similar to here, a normal year here drops to 5F, and the average low in January is 24F.
