Current temps. I see something more interesting than the 117°F (47C) in Phoenix.

The good old Polar Vortex rotating around over Northwest Hudson Bay pushing the Jet stream down into Canada. Guess where the trough is going to swing too.

Meanwhile the Southwest Ridge extends Northeast all the way to Quebec right now.

Here's how it will look in 2 days. Vortex crossed over Hudson Bay to Eastern Side, Jet Stream digs down into the East and drags a front across. Meanwhile the Southwest & Plains ridge remains in place.

Intellicast - 36-Hour Surface Forecast in United States

The more these troughs keep diving down, the more chances we don't get heat waves or long hot patterns in the Northeast at least.

Once these dips stop, it's no holds bar. Ridges & zonal flow can continue to provide hot weather with extended heat waves at times.

No chance with these continued digs. Seems like its been once a week. I have to check.

I wonder what 120° feels like. I would like to experience it once out of curiosity.
