Aren't they native in eastern NC, albeit even where they are native you really don't tend to see forests full of them?

I drove right from Atlanta to Savannah this past January, and they really aren't seen in the woods I can tell you that from what I saw. Much more landscaped in cities. Kind of odd that a native tree wouldn't dominate the forests. Do you have any websites that talk about why? Always kind of interested me why a native tree wouldn't be dominant in the forest.

Not forests full of them but where there is 1 southern magnolia from what I saw yesterday there tend to be at least 5-10 more around it. I was trying to say you see them in high densities around each other. They are mostly found in suburban wooded areas where lots of southern magnolias are planted so its easy for some of that to get into the woods and sprout, although I saw them out in the country side.

If we were that far into Spring with a snowstorm coming we would see tree branches down everywhere. This would be the year that we have early blooms but going to be about timing for an April snowstorm.

================

3/17/16

City Mailbox is 1.5 miles away, why drive? So I walked 3 miles total. Was a nice walk. Yesterday I jogged 6 miles.

Time to switch side for the sidewalk.

Little buds everywhere. Early

Went here couple years ago. They have corn, tomatoes, and other veggies for sale.

You get a tax write off if you claim your property is a farm. I should do that but I don't have enough to sell.

Nice to have a brook in your backyard (not mine) but bug & mosquito problems arise in Spring and Summer.

it's nice walking around the area, I'm able to take the time with pictures as opposed to driving and missing stuff or needing to stop and back up. Now I know why nei gets nice pictures when he's on his bike. lol

lol, nice photos of your neighborhood. Speaking of bike rides... from a week ago, warm morning after 80°F day

Yesterday

Gloomy, think it was cloudier in the hills

some sun

Sick of the brown landscape, with the lack of snow feels like it's been brown for a while. Well some green here

Nice sunset, about to start drizzling

Bike ride today. About 60°F, big convective clouds to the north; wideangle lens of the phone camera makes them look smaller

A bit after sunset post-storm, looks like mammatus hard to see in the photo
