I don't know about London, but I was twice in Belgium and The Netherlands in late August 2009 and mid August 2011, so I really found it somewhat warmer than expected, even I was able to wear t-shirt even at midnight.
Having higher dewpoint because of higher relative humidity also make such climate somewhat oppressive for me, as the climate where I live is pretty dry with daily relative humidity often falling down below 30% so far.
So, as Belgium and The Netherlands are pretty much the same than SE UK, then I wouldn't call London summers as "coldest, subartic gloomy crap ever", lol.

No place in this country seems to have made 20°C today, even if Jorvik and Helsinki did...
I would guess Oslo usually is earlier than Helsinki.
Even Helsinki? Interestingly, I would guess to the contrary- as Helsniki is in more inner of continent than Oslo.
I did some late work and even summed up the years since 2000 on basis I got from infoclimat and it says I am not wrong. And I did not include Gardermoen what has been told me to be not typical to Oslo. And also I did not include Helsinki city center (beacuse there was no data) -what is supposed to be warmer because of UHi.
This is one of the most hilarious and stupid claims here on C-D. It's Irene material.
In 2014 flaming and I were the only European posters who clocked over 2000 hours of sunshine. That number is not "cloudy", especially when coming from an US poster whose Met Agency doesn't even collect sunshine anymore. And when it did, it used some 12th century censors who are comparable with the Icelandic Sagas. Might be true or might be not.
Lmao. Do you realize that most of the world gets well over 2000 hours of sun? And yes, Chicago is one of the few spots that still collects sun data, and the device used is far superior in accuracy than the CS. Even using CS figures the vast majority of my country would see well above 2000 hours of sun. Sorry to break the news to you, 2000 hours is dull or at the very least below average in most parts of the world
You can't argue what someone feels though. Your sun is stronger than London's so that may negate the "colder" feeling.
I don't agree that London has cool summers either, but I can see why someone coming from Philly or St. Louis would feel cool in London in summer. If you're used to 30-35 C temperatures during the day, then a 23-24 C high WILL feel cool.
And I find it silly that it seems some people on here take this kind of **** personally. It's just someone's preference. If someone finds London too cool in the summer, who cares?
I think cool only belongs in the greater context of climate classification -cool summer/hot summer etc.
Cool in any other context, means a degree of coldness, and I don't think that would accurately reflect what they are feeling. It would be more accurate to say they feel less hot, or the temperature is cooler than they used to. But when someone says place X is cool, they mean it's cold, nothing else.
Even Helsinki? Interestingly, I would guess to the contrary- as Helsniki is in more inner of continent than Oslo.

10:7, there are better chances to see first 20c in Helsinki. If to use Gardermoen that is airport vs airport the result would be even more obvious
Interesting. Seems Helsinki is more prone to warm days even if the avg high is warmer in Oslo in spring. Last 10 years it has been more often first 20c day in Oslo. And you are right not to use Oslo AP Gardermoen, it is not representative of Oslo.
