A very, very big cold wave is approaching to Spain in the next week...
I'm unhappy coz again I would never have any kind of snow in the mountains near me. Last time I've seen snow I had to drive 280km to a 1.800m altitude mountain and it was crappy snow in the peak.
Meanwhile in the north of Spain they got snow on half altitude, and even less. I hope there is a bright of sunshine and it will fall snow in the 1400-1450m mountains near me.
Some years ago, I've seen this marvelous thing (the photos aren't mine) in the mountains near me which I've mentioned before... all above 1.000m had snow!
I remember my childhood in Rotterdam when I was doing snowmans in the park... a couple of days in a year the snow was heavy on Rotterdam. Nowadays... say thanks if you see some flakes in a few days in a year. In Rotterdam. At 52ºN latitude!!! F*ckin global warmth!
The problem is that is very expensive in this period, and it's in a 5 hour drive from me. Probably I would go there by late February - early March when it's cheaper.
Oh yes and closer, in Sierra Nevada (south of Spain), mounts of León and Ávila (NW Spain) or in the Spanish Pyrenees.
Webcams Sierra Nevada This is from Sierra Nevada in Granda (south of Spain). Actual photos:
The snow lasts there until March. It's very beautiful, both the resort and the mountains. The resort looks like this:

Sure, I knew there were some mountains near you. I know this, because i've seen the snow on the Pyrenees in the summer when flying home from Murcia and Alicante.
I would've thought snow lasted later than March though? I've seen snow (quite alot) in July and August on the peaks there.

Looks pretty.
In the highest zones of the Pyrenees maybe, I don't have any idea. Sierra Nevada is quite warmer.
I was talking about Sierra Nevada. The good amount of snow for skiing and stuff lasts until March, although on cooler years it melts on April.
Snow as snow lasts until the summer on highest places (3000m and above) but just a few of snow.
The good amount like on the photos from above at 2400-2500m altitude doesn't last very much in Sierra Nevada.
Five Guys is a rip off and the salty chips are burning my lips. Novelty has worn off.
