Last 7 days Max Min at the new Manhattan NYC station vs Central Park NYC Highlighting the warmer station. None of the night time lows are cooler at the new station.

Last 3 days... hard to tell since the Y axis values are different.

Here's the last 7 days

Nice to have another official station that's warmer to contribute to evidence of you know what.

Here's a question .. Has there been any station put into operation in recent years that is cooler than the nearby official stations? Ready, Set, Go... Lets find out. I'm curious.

How about we put more of them in suburbs to counter act all the warming ones?

It's really the other way around. The urbanized areas artificially increase the temperature readings in NYC. Though Central Park is not completely immune to that, it at least offers a somewhat more natural environment for measuring conditions in the area. It'll be interesting comparing to the two stations.

Thanks for putting up a table.I'm guessing the new station is still cooler than LGA. The new station is useless for calculating any warming trend; it hasn't been up long enough. Can't remember how the trend is calculated, have to check; but I think station by station a trend is calculated and then a regional average is made. So if a station has been consistently 1°F warmer than another for the last 30 years, no addition to the trend.

Even some suburban stations can be somewhat warmer than stations in more rural areas if there's a lot of roads, traffic, parking lots, buildings, etc.

I think we should put some stations in our freezers. Lol

Yeah I wouldnt put in it a rural area, although Id be curious, but at least the warmer suburbs can somewhat be fair as opposed to another "downtown" climo site.

I meant in general, but yeah not sure what other spots in and around NYC would be good.

I wonder if the heliport had a weather station for a while, or if it's new? My guess is it had one for a while, but didn't met the NWS standards until recently.

Maybe somewhere in central Brooklyn, I think Brooklyn College would be a good location

Of course, there are a lot more in the "extended metro area," for example, ISP, FRG, HWV, BDR, DXR, etc, but for obvious reasons I don't count those...
I forgot about TEB and the main reason I forgot is OKX barely treats it as anything "official". While you can easily get hourly readings for TEB on the the OKX website, you can get little else there as in they don't publish climate reports for them, etc. I wonder if that is how they are going to treat JRB.
