There have been more than one such events here...
The worst what happened quite recently was perhaps March 2013 which turned out to be -6.8c colder than the average daily mean.

Here in SW Florida it would have to be the fall/winter of 2015. It stayed warm until January and we had to use the a/c on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was one of the warmest late fall, early winter season I can remember in all my years living here.

Easily March. Spring is very delayed. Especially the closer you live to the icy shores of Lake Michigan

March. Spring takes too long to come.

Not that I live there, but this is a really bad seasonal lag due to the "maritime" influence of East Canada

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magdalen_Islands#Climate

March a full 1.8C colder than December and September a full 1.4C warmer than June! That drop from January to February is the epitome of seasonal lag. Sensational climate by all aspects.

Not sure it gets any laggier than this place: March average high colder than January average high and, more impressively, November warmer than June!

That's the case for Madeira too

What's more remarkable is when such things happen on higher latitudes. For me, Svalbard and Magdalen Islands are the most impressive lags of them lot!

Where on Madeira? Funchal doesn't have either of those quirks.

True in a sense, but I thought more about December (!) being milder even during daytime (!) than April. That's pretty extreme.

Autumn is almost always an epic fail here. It seems much easier to get shots of cool air in spring vs. fall.
