Eh? A freeze is a temperature below 32F/0C for any amount of time...

I think we are going to have an early freeze this year. The weather has already taken a turn for the worst.

I went with Nov also because rare to go past mid month without one. At least past 7yrs it is.
The average first frost in Indianapolis based on the latest 30 year averages is October 11th; the average first freeze for the same area is October 14th, and the average first hard freeze for Indianapolis occurs on average on November 2nd. Last year Indianapolis logged its latest first frost and freeze on modern record

I'm using the NWS's definition of a freeze

Anyways, if you put a one gallon jug of water in a freezer set at 0°C for one hour, it would not freeze, so it makes sense

Their definition of a freeze is 32F/0C, their definition of a "hard freeze" is 28F/-2C.

I always considered 0° to -2° a frost, especially if it's for short duration

In the UK that is a frost and a freeze...

A ground or grass frost would occur if the air temperature was above freezing yet the the ground temperature was below 0C, usually resulting in a visible white frost, an air frost is when the air temperature is below 0C, which is the same thing as a freeze...

Bring it (NJ)

The sooner this ragweed dies, the better.

Hopefully only 20 more days or so

I wish it would be in October, long term average is in October, but based on the weather recently I'm going with November 1.
