It is more common out of day/night and less common out of just day.

I thought you were arguing that the south coast (Shanklin) was just as sunny if not sunnier than Blenheim, or that at the very least Blenheim is not sunny. But now you are saying that "Blenheim is much sunnier than the south coast of England"

But yes your logic would stand to reason saying that the south coast is sunnier than central england. But that still doesn't necessarily make Shanklin a "sunny" climate. Just because Minneapolis is warmer than Yakutsk, it doesn't make Minneapolis a warm climate.

Well I suppose there is such a thing as a Midnight sun but last time I checked the UK is not north of the arctic circle.

Isn't night when the sun is below the horizon to the point of darkness ?

I was arguing that during the summer, Shanklin is sunnier than Blenheim, which is undisputedly true. However annually it is much sunnier in Blenheim

Annual sun hours in Blenheim are higher than Shanklin, but less difference than between Northern England and the south coast. Also, Shanklin is sunnier than Blenheim in summer, by more than 16 hours.

Shanklin is also cloudier, so all you're really saying, is that Shanklin has longer daylight hours.
