Then the cold front comes through and lows in the upper 30's and a downward trend. Below freezing by New Year's.

Tomorrow I will take all the plants inside before the freeze.

Weather is always interesting in the South this time of year. Shorts/t-shirts/sandals weather (80/sunny) on 22nd to blue jeans, boots, and parka with heavy rain and upper 30's this weekend. From upper 30's one day to mid 60's the next to freezing the next. Parka to short sleeve to parka over the course of 3 days.

Is there any other subtropical climate that gets these extremes? I don't think so...
Low here for New Year's a good bit warmer at 50F. May not approach freezing until Jan 3...

Wow, just saw where it's 71F in Lafayette about 80 miles south of Alexandria which is 51F.

Forecast looks ok after Tuesday. No good (cold/snowy) weather in sight, but no appalling (warm/sunny) weather in sight either. I could live with this for now, but some (preferably prolonged) Arctic blasts would be good before the end of Feb.

I would trade ya. Nasty and hot here for 4 more days with mid 80's inland and no rain. Going on two weeks without a drop.

When I went to bed last night it was 52F. Woke up to 72F this morning; 20F warmer overnight! Quite muggy outside; carport is soaking wet. Dewpoint of 68F. Strong wind gusts from the south. Looks like a line of heavy rain coming and should turn a bit cooler later this morning.
