It feels like winter is definitely over here, but on this day in 1948, OKC had a high/low of 28F/4F (-2/-16C) and 8.1" (21 cm) of snow. The following day, the March record low of 1F/-17.5C was set. That day was 42.3 F below average, one of the most anomalously cold days on record!
Next 10 days............. Jet Dipping in the Western U.S and that means........Zonal Flow and A Ridge in the East...
I am enjoying this warm and well above normal March. Finally!
Glad you finally got a warm spring!
We are getting a wet pattern out here, not ideal for my preferences but good for the soil. Everything is green here, pin oaks budding, grass green, lots of trees flowering. But the darn sun won't come out. Was supposed to be 80 and sun today but it's cloudy and 72. Good temps but I like sun. Second day in a row they underestimated the high for the day.
In the meantime, LA is getting drenched. Rain for the next 7 days.
I'm saying it's gotten to the point where they might as well revise all averages down by 5°F west of the Rockies and up by 5°F east of the Rockies. At least it seems that way to me. You can't be above average all the time or conversely below average all the time....
Yeah, the cold air seems to be keeping it more below average now in the west due to the jet stream and patterns now, mainly in the winter and spring. Conversely, it can change depending on the pattern, but seeing how the climate has changed, the ridge likes to stay around more in the East. We were already two distinct climates between the west and east, but now it seems like the east is becoming a huge subtropical rainforest stretching into northeast almost (already was kind the case) and the west a huge Mediterranean climate (kind of already the case too), but even more so now.
It will be interesting to see the new averages come out next year for climate period (1991 - 2020). Warmer in the East with barely any warming in the west? Who knows, but it will be interesting to find out.
Low 60s today after some very light morning rain.
Rest of the week will be right around 70 with a slight cool down over the weekend but nothing below 60. Still early, but possible mid 70s mid week briefly.
Even though the highs aren't anything super warm, the lows will rarely drop below 50 (and even 60 next week). That will really help with spring development.
Downside is while it's not as wet as February, it's going to be pretty cloudy and fairly wet over the next 2 weeks.

FL is above avg most all the time. Just look at the last 9 years and do the figs and see what wins by far and it would be above normal temps.
Heavy convective shower in the area this evening like we get in the warmer part of the year. Still hasn't managed to break 80F but got close to it today; high was 79F with DP in the 60's.
