Cool the past couple of days. Last night it ended up getting down to 39F which was 2F above the record daily low. Got up to 67F with a mostly sunny sky and low humidity (dewpoint in the 30's).
Turning warmer and more humid by the end of the week.
Uranium City, Saskatchewan finally reached freezing today, April 15, for the first time this year. A measly 0.1 C / 32.2 F for a high.
On average, their first above-freezing day is March 6, their high crosses freezing on April 4, and their average 24-hour temperature crosses freezing April 20. In a majority of years, it's already reached 10.0 C / 50.0 F by April 15.
In fact, the LAST ice day (day where it doesn't get above freezing) of the spring in UC is, on average, April 23. In 15 out of 62 years, it's been before April 15.
The old record for latest above-freezing day was April 9, in 2013; years recorded were 1953-1959 and 1961-present.
Interestingly enough, Stony Rapids, 101 miles ESE, first got above freezing on March 10; that day and March 26 are the only two days that have gotten above freezing this year. Their average high crosses freezing April 2. Fort Smith, 117 miles away WNW, briefly crossed freezing January 31 and has crossed it several times since; their average high crosses freezing March 29. Fort Chipewyan, 107 miles SW, had a first above-freezing day January 30 and average high crossing freezing March 29. These are the only three weather stations I could find on Weatherspark within 150 miles or so of UC.
UC has been warmer than -2.0 C / 28.4 F 11 times before it ever hit freezing, including as early as January 30. The local conditions in UC are slightly colder than the surrounding areas, and that was enough to keep temperatures just below freezing when other areas were going slightly above freezing.
