Looks as if I will be staying here until the end of April.

Back in Chicago low 20 degree difference between the lakefront which is in the low 40s and the suburbs which are in the low 60s today

You beat me today. I was 79f and dry dews. That all goes down the drain next week as blazing 90's try to come back and no rain for weeks.

Clear and cold again this morning; low temperature at the airport was -21.6°C. Cold spot in Alberta was a shocking -33.9°C at Teepee Creek near Grand Prairie.

As cold as it is, two years ago was worse...

Active weather day across Alberta. There's even the possibility of lightning and thunder in the south. Heavy snow again today in parts of Manitoba.

Quote:
DISCUSSION...

ALBERTA...A WEAK SHORTWAVE IS PUSHING OVER THE ROCKIES TODAY INTO
SOUTH CENTRAL ALBERTA. AN ASSOCIATED LOW IS EXPECTED TO SPIN UP SOUTH
OF CALGARY. THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING FLURRIES AND PERIODS OF SNOW TO A
LARGE SWATH OF THE PROVINCE TODAY, WITH 2-4 CM EXPECTED FROM THE
EDMONTON AREA TO SOUTH OF CALGARY. IN PARTS OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA,
CONVECTIVE SHOWERS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THERE IS SOME DECENT
INSTABILITY IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA, AND AN ISOLATED LIGHTNING STRIKE IS
NOT IMPOSSIBLE TODAY IN AND AROUND THE LETHBRIDGE REGION, ALTHOUGH IT
IS NOT PROBABLE.

SK/MB...SHORTWAVE TROUGH BRINGING ONE LAST SHOT OF ENERGY TO
SOUTHEASTERN MANITOBA EARLY THIS MORNING, BUT SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
MOVE OFF TO THE NORTH AND NORTHEAST THROUGHOUT THE DAY. CENTRAL
THROUGH NORTHWESTERN MANITOBA WILL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE HEAVY SNOW
TODAY BEFORE THE TROUGH SHIFTS SLOWLY EASTWARD TOWARDS THE HUDSON BAY
COAST ON SATURDAY. SNOWFALL TOTALS OF 15 TO 30 CM EXPECTED WITHIN THE
WARNED REGIONS.

About 85F/29C today and brilliantly sunny. Another pool day

https://twitter.com/NWSPhoenix/statu...31555622866946

But below average temps are expected towards the second half of next week. But that just means low to mid 70s for a few days
