The tornadoes that touched down. Even one near me.
And just like that the calls for a repeat of the drought summers of 2012 and 1988 for this summer have vanished The Euro this morning is showing +5 inch rain totals for a large part of metro Chicagoland. Here comes the flooding and the mosquitoes Write off this summer here. The pattern is now setting up to be wet and humid with little or no heat for the foreseeable future
Even though we will see lots of rain the Northern Plains and further West will just see drought conditions worsen over the next couple of weeks
There were low 40s in the northern and western suburbs yesterday morning
This would’ve been a 2012 repeat but you jinxed the Midwest out of having a proper summer due to all of your incessant drivel on C-D weather. Now the Midwest just might have one of the shortest coolest summers in recent memory.

Heat drought fires and smoke was always the normal in the West
Acreage burned is increasing dramatically in recent years as the climate in many areas of the West is heating up faster than other regions of the US, even if forest management was a factor.
Clouds for half the day then the skies cleared. High was 78F here 80F at MDW and 79F at ORD. As of yesterday ORD is +4.7 above average for the month

No I mean drought is part of the West's climate. It was even worse in past periods. If you look at the far right the West is actually coming off a wet period
That heat in the PNW will break records though. Near 100F in Seattle
And look at Portland. Are you kidding me? 108F
Meanwhile looks like drought here in the Lower Midwest/Great Lakes will be over soon
Upper 70s to low 80s here with humid conditions and LOTS of rain on the way
