Felt good after 2 weeks of highs in the 90's each day. Back to the 90's for the rest of the week with daily isolated/scattered t-storms.
I've had 6.40" so far this month (more than 4 inches fell on June 1st).
Here's a pic of my garden from yesterday. Plants seem stunted from excessive rainfall and haven't been producing that much. I've had 29.37" of rain since April 7. It had dried out since early June with temps in the 90's. The rain I had yesterday was beneficial.
Wow! 6.40"? Yeah, not good for crops. Here's 1 bed of mine. Tomatoes doing better than last year
The tornadoes that touched down. Even one near me.
And just like that the calls for a repeat of the drought summers of 2012 and 1988 for this summer have vanished The Euro this morning is showing +5 inch rain totals for a large part of metro Chicagoland. Here comes the flooding and the mosquitoes Write off this summer here. The pattern is now setting up to be wet and humid with little or no heat for the foreseeable future
Even though we will see lots of rain the Northern Plains and further West will just see drought conditions worsen over the next couple of weeks
There were low 40s in the northern and western suburbs yesterday morning
We actually got rain in SoCal this AM, raining in Phoenix right now
Well good to see it reaching the ground there, the forecast for the Northwest has many people very concerned as it will increase the drought and fire risk significantly due to temperatures being 25-30F above average.
Hope it lasts a long time. Just like when the east had the drought, hot, dry pattern and the west didn't. One side has to torch and obviously I choose west. Eventually it will be our turn and the west will get their dips and breaks like we're getting now.
