Not really. They had a few fishing camps on the bay near Stump pass. Many homes on the water you could have bought for 50k back in them days. Now many are torn down and replaced with much bigger homes for like 500k and up.

High was just 72 degrees here because of cloud cover and some rain. Midway made it up to 79 degrees and ORD 76F where they had less cloud and the rain has generally stayed south of I80

My coworker and good friend has a house there

No Englewood isn't a retirement community. Venice near by does have a lot of retirement communities. It's actually one of the few coastal Florida towns that still has the old Florida feel to it.

I haven't been to that region in around 10 years, but I'm no fan of Florida. Unless the demographics have changed significantly since 2020 Covid/WFH, they both look to be heavily retiree on the stat sheets:

Hm 51% over 65. Defintiely didn't feel that way when i was there. Plus im sure lots of younger residents live there part of the year and maybe aren't factored in. So many people are flocking to Florida right now it's mind boggling. We can't find a house because people are paying cash and waving inspections

It's still a long time away, but related to this there are increasing signals about the possibility of a major blizzard hitting the northwest plains of the US the week after Columbus Day.

Operational and ensembles are in reasonable agreement in the upper levels.

Both operational models develop an intense surface in the high plains.

If this comes off--and it's only barely more than theoretical at this point--there are some absolutely biblical snow amounts in eastern Montana as a result (not to mention almost 2 meters of snow in the BC mountains). Keep your fingers crossed.

And guess what that means...

Latest Euro for New Haven, CT...

Going the wrong way. Gets warmer after this warmup.

Still 7-10 days away but its showing 70s and even 80s around next week

The ridge is pumped.

No cool pattern in sight

Figures. I want Alaska and the West to Torch!

Heavy early season snowfall

Fairbanks (at UAF) snowfall Friday & Saturday totaled 5.8" (14.7cm). This is the sixth highest 2-day snow so early in the season in more than a century of climate observations

Cloudy week ahead but remaining above average. Especially the minimum temps

Some rain but not anything drought busting for Northeast Illinois

Next week looks to be even more above average

Are you living in the previously uncategorized hot desert climate specific to your area? I don't think I've ever seen a post from you saying it was actually raining. Curious about your location, seems like you are getting 10" of rain or so per year maybe and the temperature never gets below 90.
