Next to no snow at all so far this winter in southern Indiana. Horrid pattern predicted on the last several model runs. It appears to be a very dry La Nina split flow setup. Pacific pattern still is messing up everything for now, even with the PNA forecasted to be positive territory for the rest of the month.

You might get cold without snow--which I'm thinking will blunt the temperatures somewhat.

Top forecast is for NYC at sea level, bottom one is for Breckenridge CO at 9600 ft in the Rockies. Funny how comparable they are this week.

It really depends on where that positive height anomaly sets up off the West Coast and Gulf of Alaska. There was a decent snow event 50-75 miles south of me a few days ago that produced up to 9 inches of snow. The models seem to be onto a drier colder pattern change, but with the La Nina split flow setup... We'll see, certainly not a repeat of the December blowtorch for areas east of the Rockies.

Apparently the 500mb height anomaly forecast has been down for a few days on the CPC site:

Snow is falling across northern Indiana. Cloudy and cold here in central Indiana. Woke up to 13F. Tonight should get down into the single digits with clear skies. We might see snow this weekend Friday night into Saturday, maybe a couple inches anyway. We shall see since it's still several days out.
