Somebody (can't remember who) said that the Brisbane flooding was likely to be the "worst in decades". So I guess that means worse than 2011 and similar to Cyclone Wanda in 1974? Hard to fathom though--the dam levels are (or were) lower than 2011 and there's been lots warning.

Gympie has had its biggest flood in more than 100 years, though I don't think its quite going to hit the 2011 or 1974 levels in Brisbane.
Their may have been actually more rain in 2022, however the building of additional dams following the 1974 flood, and a change in the operation of the dams following the 2011 flood, mean that flooding may be less of a problem in Brisbane itself.

I hope you're right. The river seems to have spilled its banks; indications on Twitter that South Bank, the Cultural Centre, portions of the CBD, Howard Smith Wharves, and Kangaroo Point are badly threatened.

I have seen a few of them, in 2011 the water went though and flooded all the basemen car parks in the city, and the pool at South Bank Its not their yet thank goodness. This was taken today, in 2011 the water went up and flooded the basements of thoes white buildings you see.
What an extreme year so far for the Southern Hemisphere as a whole, right? And looking to the forecasts, while Brisbane would see a relief, the deluge now gonna move over Sidney's area!
