Paraburdoo is at 424m asl and is foecast to reach 47c !
Roebourne is 47.8°C at 10:40am.

Any hope of 50°C depends on the keeping sea breeze at bay. Current winds are southeasterlies at a healthy 30-40kmh. Healthy monsoon trough linked to ex-Tiffany is helping maintain this flow.

Still a lot could go wrong. I give it a 10% chance.

49.3°C now at Roebourne so beyond the 120°F barrier and still climbing strong.

I'm reminded of when Odell sighted Mallory and Irvine "going strong for the top"--then they disappeared into the fog never to be seen again.

Roebourne currently maxed out at 49.6, but it isn't over yet.

Also Mandora has some interesting combos of temp and dewpoint. It even had a 28.9C dewpoint today which is crazy.

Obs from last few days - Latest Weather Observations Mandora

Wow, amazing.

I think this is the first 50°C in Australia since 1998?

Yeah I was checking the records, and from what I can see you are spot on.
50.5C - 19 February 1998 - Mardie

All the others are much older.

Yep, Onslow comes up on the outside to take the win! Not only that, Onslow ties Oodnadatta for the hottest temperature ever recorded in Australia.

Final scores:

Onslow 50.7 °C
Mardie 50.5
Roebourne 50.5

So after no 50s in 23 years, three in just one day. This also marks three of the top five temperatures ever recorded in Australia. Incredible.

Next up: the monsoon trough anchored to the remnants of Tiffany move inland and brings another round of possible heavy rain to the centre. We might see more waterfalls off of Uluru by Sunday.
