Some Xmas Day temps on the West Coasst of WA. Can't say I'm a fan of a weather site quoting 'unofficial' heat readings that are upwards of 2c above the Screen readings at Geraldton Airport.....for example Waggarakine is only 14-15klms from the Bom Site at the Airport and it is flat featureless countryside ie no hills or valleys as such.

Some maxs acroos the north of the country today.

Rivadavia 43,5ºC
Posta Zalazar, Fma: 41,7°C
Ingeniero Juárez, Fma: 40,3°C
Pozo Hondo 40,2ºC
Las Lomitas 40ºC

Things are heating up there. And considering that today was the 'mildest' in the forecasts, I hope to see at least a 45 during this week...to stand a little better in front of our aussie counterparts

It will stay hot in Perth for the next couple of days though it looks like it will "only" reach 39C and 38C for the next couple of days as the seabreeze is expected to arrive in the afternoon to cool things down a bit and that will be very welcome as the wind has been offshore for the last 4 days and so the heat has been without much respite.

You can tell some of the wildlife are suffering from it. I went for a walk to the local shopping centre late this afternoon and saw a couple of stressed looking magpies sitting under the shade of a thick canopied fig tree they didn't fly away when I was walking very close by and when I walked back an hour later they were still there.

First time in Perth of more than 40C on 4 consecutive days in December and only the third time on record in any month...only otherwise happened in 1933 and 2016 in February.

Temperatures for the last 5 days have been:

24/12: 19.8C-38.6C
25/12: 20.8C-42.8C
26/12: 26.0C-43.5C
27/12: 25.8C-41.0C
28/12: 22.2C-40.7C

Forecast Max of 38C tomorrow before it cools a little to the low to mid-30's for the rest of the week.
