I saw Butte had a low temperature of -44F. Wind chills in ND near -70F on the new scale. Port Townsend, WA had a low temperature of 1F this morning, very impressive cold air outbreak.

There's a spot just north of Butte called Elk Park- I'll bet it was near -60F last night/this morning.
Well ECCC ended up being closer - got down to -46.6C last night.
Cold spot in Alberta (and Canada) atm is Keg River at -49.3C so the province could definitely reach the -50C mark at some point.
Yep, Keg River got down to -50.1°C some time between 8-9 am this morning.
I think the -46.6°C for Edmonton YEG was yesterday. Minimum today seems to be -45°C.
The forecast for tonight in Edmonton YEG revised to -46°C which seems more realistic. Too bad really: if it's going to be this cold I kind of wish it could reach the big five-oh.
PS. The Edmonton Blatchford station continues to be an epic fail. But also now the Calgary YYC station seems to be equally compromised.
The conditions in the northern plains are downright dangerous ....wind chill -50 F . And to think, I was in Georgetown, DE yesterday and it was 62 F. It's 110 F colder than what my temp was. What a country. LOL
