I was in Houston for a wedding and the weather on Friday afternoon and evening, yesterday morning, and yesterday afternoon was quite pleasant. I was afraid I'd be knocked over with humidity, but it was not even as bad as it has been in the DFW area as far as comfort goes.
I checked wunderground just out of curiosity and during the times we were out and about, the dew point was 75 and the temp ranged between 87 and 92 with the humidity ranging from 61% to 77% on Friday and on Saturday, 87 to 94 temperature, 66 to 73 dew point, and 40 to 63 % humidity. Even with the dew point at 75, it didn't bother me which I totally don't understand. Of course, I wasn't out in the weather for too long.
Maybe I am becoming more acclimated to Texas climate and don't know it. I can only hope.

From what I see from ILNC's posts, most of the time Houston does not look bad. Especially with current conditions like 84 F and a dewpoint around 70 F.
Could be, then again I'm probably more acclimated to Texas weather than most Texans, I've never even been there... Maybe a lot of it is attitude or mood.
Example:
A few days ago there was a gentle-warmth inside.
I checked my little indoor weather station and it said it was 80 F with 60% humidity,
and even with that amount of humidity it still felt pleastantly-dry for me.
I spent two summers in the Houston area...never, ever again. They were the two most miserable summers of my life.
You're luck it was only two summers, I've had to spend 53 summers in Texas
I guess some people adapt easier that others, I just have not been able to and neither has my husband.

Wow, you are old!
Instead of saying "Ah, go to He**" I've started say, "Oh, go to Houston!"
Today in the Twin Cities it's hot, humid, smoky and simply nasty. I want it to be cold again! Miss the 0 degree weather!!

Does the intensity of the sun angle bother you in Houston? I have found that the sun angle north of 40N latitude to be more tolerable compared with the subtropics.

I am looking forward to cold air again too. However, I will enjoy the highs in the 70s predicted for my area next week. Humidity levels should be moderate.

I left Houston in 1985 and haven't been back since!
