In Perth coldest ever was 8.8C one July day in 1956, I forget the exact date.

The coldest I can remember is 10C a few years back. That day it only reached 8C in Bickley.

The 1956 event saw snow in the Perth Hills, the first and only report in Perth's history.

Most winters our lowest maximum is about 13-14C.

In the last 12 months here in Sydney, our coldest maximum was around 14C (58F) which occurred last June. We are pretty lucky here IMO.

I think the coldest maximum I have experienced would have been around 2C (36F) during one of my London winters. Out of curiosity, I would like to experience a day where it never climbs into the positives (but just once, maybe ;-))

Wink Nippy!

Not quite sure what a "coldest high" is. Isn't that an oxymoron?

Anyhow, when I was working up on the Beaufort Sea in the McKenzie delta researching those pesky free-ranging polar bears that hung around oil rigs, we saw -70F one fine afternoon in January. That was NOT with a wind chill factor.

At the time, when Eddie Bauer (EB) Canada made and sold real serious arctic gear for serious workers up there, I had on his goose-down undies over wicking poly underwear, then a loose thermal weave intermediate one-piece, and then their Superior Parka and bib-front coveralls, all goose down filled. Also, big EB down-filled mitts with a sheep fleece backside to gently massage your face with. White Canadian Army multi-layer sno-packs over two layers of sox, and triple-paned ski goggles over an EB goose-down filled full coverage face mask. I also had a breathing snorkel that extended down under my parka so I didn't freeze my lung alveoli when I exerted myself.

Quite interesting, and at the time fun. Now, 35 years later, I'd probably tip over and die on the spot, even with that same clothing! No wonder us old folks want to move to Flaw-Duh, huh?

As opposed to feeling the temperature, I "saw" the coldest to be 19°F from the comfort of my 70°F home through a window. It was a joke, but seriously, 19 in my area, 9 in Colorado one January.

Sydney (from memory) about 11-12oC. Melbourne: 8-9oC. I totally live for those type of temperatures

Sorry, it was 18°F in 1989. Doesn't happen much, but it does. Lowest was 16°F ever, but before my time.
